Game Designer | Programmer

Passionate game designer and programmer showcasing a collection of intricately designed 2D and 3D games. Explore the creative process behind each project, from concept to completion and get to know the man behind the project

Hello! My name is Aidan Melville, and I am excited to share my journey with you. After spending several years in Law and Facilities Management, I made the bold decision to pursue my true passions in Games Development.

Through my course in Indie Games Development at NFTS I have explored various elements of the gaming industry with the hopes of starting out my career. With the help of my projects I am exploring more of the roles I love within the gaming industry, finding out that my areas of passion lie in Level Design and Programming.

This change has not only reinvigorated my spirit but has also allowed me to explore my creative and artistic side, while challenging my puzzle solving and thirst for knowledge. I look forward to connecting with you as I embrace this new chapter in my life!

My portfolio serves as a way of me showcasing my development and growth through this next journey.

As a break from the development side, take the time to get to more about me. My interests include playing games *shocker* [Insert surprised GIF here]. Games like Call of Duty, Borderlands, Risk of Rain, God of War, Resident Evil... the list goes on. One of my biggest interests outside of the world of gaming is a massive passion in Basketball, I attend all the team games, I support Sheffield Sharks, with the most memorable experience being meeting the Lord Mayor at one of the game, and watching the highest scoring English Female Basketball game ever - a record held by the Sheffield Hatters GO TEAM!

Creative Vision

My aim is to delve into numerous ideas and bring to life game concepts that I believe have yet to be fully realized. Throughout my journey, I've encountered waves of creativity that I now wish to channel, develop, and pursue to see where this passion takes me. My initial project, Crystal Heist, marks my debut in the 2D platforming genre. Following that, my next endeavor will be a collaborative project centered around the 3D horror genre, particularly focusing on the perspective of playing as the monster. For more information, please visit the projects page.

My Past

A little bit about my background, while gaming and development is a new passion and change in my career, I have always been passionate in programming, and computers. I have studied a Bachelors Degree in Ethical Hacking and Cybersecurity at Coventry University. After finishing my course I decided to move through different industries to gain experience in other fields while finding what motivates me and provides the drive I am looking for. I have had the pleasure and joy of working in aviation, and in law, with my next chapter, I am looking for something more creative to help me express my passions.

Current

Embarking on this new journey I have decided to head back to school and take a Postgraduate Certificate course in gaming, Indie Games Development at National Film and Television School or NFTS. With this being a new passion, I knew I would need guidance and support as I take this transition. Having watched and followed along to tutorials for some years I finally felt ready to jump into a course and at the beginning of 2025, plunged myself into this PGC course, furthering my understanding and enter the gaming industry backed by a wealth of knowledge and new found understanding.
